A world without God, through the eyes of Dostoevsky's heroes, based on the novels „ The Devils” and „The Brothers Karamazov”

"The Brothers Karamazov" and "The Devils" are novels late-period works of Fyodor Dostoevsky, which together constitute a complete synthesis of the views of the writer. In the center of the discussed problems by Dostoevsky's issues of freedom and arbitrariness, Christian ethics and theodicy. On the sides of the novels goes the dispute with atheism and its derivatives, for which the writer considers the manifestations of Western culture, such as socialism, Catholicism and capitalism. Members of Peter Verkhovensky's group and the Karamazov family perform in their characters a full range of attitudes rejecting the authority of God. The fundamental issue is the transformation of the God-man in the Man-god, what is considered by Dostoevsky like the starting point for the crime, absurdity and alienation of society.
